Edward Robinson was born in 1870 in Hook. He was the youngest child of John and Louisa (nee Rogers) Robinson.
In 1871, one year after Edward's birth, the family were living in (or near to) Hook Hall. John's occupation was given as Landowner and Farmer of 120 acres, employing 4 labourers, 6 women, 1 boy and 1 girl. Living in Hook Hall at the time was Oswald L. Chambers, who was Vicar of Hook and to whom there is a memorial window inside the Church.
Sadly, by 1881 the family seem to have fallen on hard times. They were living in Boothferry Road in Hook and unfortunately father, John, was listed as an out-of-work farmer.
However, following Edward's death in 1890, John took on a totally different role. He and Louisa moved to the Cemetery House in Hook Road and John became the Curator of the Goole Cemetery.
