According to an article in the Isle of Axholme & Thorne Advertiser, published on Friday 3rd May 1889, on the occasion of Hannah Dyson's 100th birthday, William Dyson spent some time in farm service under Jarvis Empson. The Dysons lived in Goole Fields.
