WHO DIED MARCH 30TH 1889
Ann Jane was born in 1855 in Laxton. Annie's parents (Mother's maiden name Cox) lived in Hook for many years and are both buried there themselves.
As a young girl Annie worked as a live-in farm servant before marrying in 1889 at the age of 33 years.
The Howdenshire Gazette has her wedding announcement: she ("Annie ") Sweeting married George Henry Crackles, a corn meter (a weights and measures inspector) of Goole, at Snaith Parish church on 22 March 1889.
Ann Jane (or Annie) Crackles, née Sweeting, was buried in Hook on 1st April 1889. According to the Howdenshire Gazette, she died on 30 March in Old Goole, aged 33. Tragically she had only been married for 8 days!
George Henry went on, a few years later, to remarry Syndonia Hornby, and raised a family in Goole. They are mostly in Goole cemetery. George died in the Workhouse Infirmary, but Syndonia outlived him and their two daughters.
